Eagledale

Title

Eagledale

Description

Eagledale,A wild, lonely place to which Arthur Donnithorne goes on a fishing trip. "It's a wonderful sight--rocks and caves such as you never saw in your life. I never had a right notion o' rocks till I went there… there's nothing but a bit of a inn I' that part where he's gone to fish." The original of Eagledale is Dovedale, a picturesque ravine some 20 or 30 miles north of Norbury, on the River Dove, the stream which divides the counties of Derby ("Stonyshire") and Stafford ("Loamshire"). The region was a favourite resort of Isaac Walton.
