Cranage, Bessy

The blacksmith's buxom daughter, called Chad's Bess, who is fond of finery. She is worked upon by Dinah Morris's preaching to give up some of her vanitites, but when she wins the sack race at the birthday celebration she is bitterly disappointed that the prize is not a piece of finery.
