Kenn, Dr.

Vicar of St. Ogg's, a kind friend to Maggie Tulliver. "That plain, middle-aged face, with a grave, penetrating kindness in it, seeming to tell of a human being who had reached a firm, safe strand, but was looking with helpful pity towards the stragglers still tossed by the waves." When Maggie Tulliver returns to St. Ogg's after leaving it with Stephen Guest, he takes her into his family as governess for his young children and treats her with great kindness. He eventually advises her to leave St. Ogg's for a time, being led to this step by the prevalent feeling in the parish, which he is unable to overcome.
