Badia, Church of the (Badia),Church in Florence, where Romola meets Baldasserre Calvo. The Church of La Badia, originally a Benedictine convent (abbatia) founded in the tenth century by Willa, mother of the Margrave Hugo; the present church was largely reconstructed in the seventeenth century.
