Ferrara (Real)

Ferrara (Real),Savonarola's birthplace and early home were in "brilliant Ferrara". Ferrara, thirty miles northeast of Bologna, was the capital of the House of Este. In Savonarola's time it was a powerful city of about 100,000 inhabitants, and its court was one of the most famous and magnificent in Italy.
