Bardi (Hist.)

The famous Florentine family to which Romola de' Bardi belongs. Accounts of the Bardi, especially of the battle which ended in the destruction of their house . and the expulsion of some members from the city, are found in various historical works. The text of Romola refers to Villani's history, and Dr. Guido Biagi points out that the source from which George Eliot probably obtained her first knowledge of the family was Ademollo's Marietta dei Ricci.
