Bonfire of Vanities (Hist.)

"On this day of the festival, at evening, the pile of vanities was to be set ablaze to the sound of trumpets, and the ugly old Carnival was to tumble into the flame amid the songs of reforming triumph." The first Bonfire of Vanities took place the 7th of February, 1497. A second one took place on the 27th of February, 1498.
