Ceccone, Ser, or Ser Francesco di Ser Barone (Hist.)

A "sharp-nosed notary of evil repute". While apparently a member of Savonarola's party he is secretly an agent of the Mediceans. When the Mediceans are arrested he tries to buy his own safety by betraying them, and hates Tito Melema as a more successful traitor than himself. Later he attaches himself to the Arrabbiati and Dolfo Spini, becomes a bitter enemy of Savonarola, and, at Savonarola's trial and torture, tampers with and perverts the evidence and confession. Ser Ceccone, or Ser Ceccone di Ser Barone, the infamous notary who falsified Savonarola's depositions.
