Description

"Frati Umiliati, or Humbled Brethren, from Ognissanti, with a glorious tradition of being the earliest workers in the wool trade," one of the monastic orders that take part in the procession of the Madonna de l'Impruneta. The Humiliati (or Umiliati) an Italian order founded in the twelfth century, and suppressed by Pius V in 1570. Their principal centre in Florence was the Church and Convent of Ognissanti, and the wool trade industries of Ognissanti were developed by them.
