Nicholas V, Pope (Hist.)

The Pope who, while he was still Thomas of Sarzana, honoured Bardo de' Bardi with his personal notice. Tomaso Parentucelli or Tomaso da Sarzana (1398-1455); pope, as Nicholas V, 1447-55. A patron of learning as well as a man of great erudition, he collected many manuscripts and employed hundreds of scholars and copyists.
