Puglia, Fra Francesco di (Hist.)

A Franciscan who, when preaching the Quaresimal sermons at Santa Croce in 1498, challenges Savonarola to prove his doctrines by walking through fire. Fra Francesco di Puglia attacked Savonarola with great violence in the sermons which he preached against him. The historical facts are substantiated as stated by George Eliot.
