Lowick

Lowick,Parish near Middlemarch. The parish of Lowick in Middlemarch is imaginary, though its name is real. When George Eliot chose the name she did not remember that there was any place of the name in England, but there are actually three parishes named Lowick, one of them in a Midland county.
