Title

Yew-Tree Walk

Description

Yew-Tree Walk,Mr. Casaubon's favourite walk in the grounds of Lowick Manor; it is in a little summer house near this walk that Dorothea finds him dead. A Yew-tree walk in the garden of Griff House, George Eliot's early home, served as the original of the Yew-tree walk at Lowick Manor, and a round stone table, now preserved at Bedworth Rectory, the home of the Reverend Frederic R. Evans (George Eliot's nephew) is pointed out as the original of the table on which Mr. Casaubon was leaning when he died.
