A medical charlatan, who claimed to have extracted mercury from the temples of a patient. John St. John Long (1798-
1834), an ex-artist who established a medical practice in London in 1827, and claimed to have an entirely original method of treating consumption, etc. He was twice tried for manslaughter, and eventually died of a consumption which he refused to treat by his own method.
