Dunkirk, Mrs.

The pawnbroker's wife, "a simple pious woman"; later Mr. Bulstrode's first wife. On her husband's death she inherited his wealth, never having realized the nature of his business. She refused to marry Mr. Bulstrode until efforts had been made to find her lost daughter. Mr. Bulstrode concealed his knowledge of the daughter's whereabouts, and Mrs. Dunkirk married him and left him her fortune without reservation.
