George Eliot and Derbyshire

Title

George Eliot and Derbyshire

Description

The article shows how George Eliot gained inspiration and a basis for her works. Though she stayed in Derbyshire for only a few days, the book "Adam Bede" showed extensive knowledge of the courntry and the people. It is proved, in this article, that much of George Eliot's ideas were grounded or stimulated by information and persepectives she listened to from others and which she wrote in a book for later reference. This observation is backed up by extracts of letters written by George Eliot and quotes from people she had associated with.
