Griff Hollows (the Red-Deeps)

Title

Griff Hollows (the Red-Deeps)

Description

The Red Deeps in The Mill on the Floss are based on Griff Hollows, which is the area between Griff and Nuneaton. It is where Maggie Tulliver had secret meetings with Philip Wakem.  Griff, a spacious two-story red brick farmhouse, was Eliot's childhood home from 1820-1841.
