Evans, Samuel (1777 - 1858)

Samuel Evans was George Eliot's uncle, her father Robert's younger brother. He was a Methodist convert who was a model for the character of Seth Bede in Eliot's first novel, Adam Bede. Samuel Evans was the husband of Elizabeth Evans, a female preacher and the model for Dinah.
