Evidence

"Saturday 20. Finished the revisal of Book II of Spinoza. We walked a little before dinner, but suffered terribly from the cold. Read the wondrously beautiful "Rische Elegien" again and some of the Venetian Epigrams. G. began "Winter's Tale". Wrote to his dictation an article on Gluck and Johanna Wagner. Received a letter from Mr. Chapman requesting me to prepare an article on Vehse's Court of Austria for the next No. of the Westminster." Diary 1854-1861 43
