"Tuesday 20. Letter from G. and Leader. A very mild morning. Walked on the beach. Wrote Recollections and a note to G. Read Leader and Scherr. Walking out this afternoon along the beach I saw a sea fog come in with amazing rapidity-a thick cloud seemed to gather on the cliff in a moment. Had a letter from Rosehill. Wrote a note to Mr. Chapman." Diary 1854-1861 54-55
