MS: Mr. Gordon N. Ray.
The Priory | 3 December 78.
Thank you very much, my dear Pigott, for your most kind and affectionate letter. The funeral will be at Highgate and we shall leave here at 11.15; but please do not think of coming in your state of health unless you should be really safe to come and the weather fine. I cannot bear to think of your running any risks. He would not have wished it. So unless it is absolutely safe you will know that by staying away you are doing what he would prefer.
Ever affectionately yours
C. L. Lewes.
