Dear Mr. Tourguenieff
My mother asks me to write to let you know that my Father is very dangerously ill, and she is unable therefore to answer any letters herself but she wishes me to tell you with their thanks that all the things which you have sent have safely arrived, and also a photograph from Mme. Viardot. You will I know be grieved to hear of my Father's state. Since Friday last he has been in bed in a constant state of pain and prostration. He has some inflamatory disorder of the stomach.
Yours very truly
C. L. Lewes.
