Mr. Lewes brought me a very generous message from you a little while ago, about your willingness to send me any of your publications that I might desire to possess. You grow a good deal of precious fruit in that way, but when one is asked to choose one does not like to put one's finger on the best apple. I could never have asked for so handsome a present as Dr. Wyville Thomson's book, 850 which you have been so good as to send us. I care most about scientific and historical works, which are just the most costly. A little while ago we inquired for Miss Yonge's Book of Noble Deeds, 851 and it was out of print. I hope it is to be reproduced.
