Dear Friend,
It was like your warm heart to lose no time in sending me M. Ritter's letter, which I value doubly because it was addressed to you. Will you be kind enough to tell him from us that if we should not happen to be in town when he comes to London, we beg that he will nevertheless send us a letter apprizing us of his arrival, as we might have the pleasure of seeing him in the country. Letters addressed to this house would be forwarded to us wherever we might be in England.
I have been thinking of you very often lately and have been resolving to write you one of my shabby notes to beg that you will not quite drop the sweet habit of writing to us occasionally and telling us something about your thoughts or work, simply because I have ceased to correspond with you in green-covered volumes. 742 Mr. Lewes is in good working condition, but the printing of the "Key" is not yet begun. And, you know, there is to be an introductory volume given forth at present.
At this moment I am imperatively called away. God bless you. Believe me
