My dear Master
Some awkwardness about our postal arrangements makes me fear the possibility that the letter addressed to you at Oxford may not arrive in time to be in your hands on Wednesday morning (tomorrow).
For security, I write again to assure you that a visit from you either Tuesday or Thursday 376 in next week will be most welcome to us.
Mr. Lewes will await you at our Station, hoping that you will have started by the train which leaves Waterloo at 11.30. We are so barely provided here at present that we have no spare bed -- much to our regret since there is a chance that you would have accepted it. But the latest train to town leaves Witley at 8.25. This is too early, but it leaves time to dine comfortably at seven.
We shall look forward to your visit as a pleasure that we should have chosen, but one made all the more welcome and valuable by the fact that you have chosen it.
