Dear Friend
I am really unfortunate both as a visitor and visitee, for on Monday I called at your house, and on Tuesday when you were so good as to wait for me here I missed you by 3 minutes only.
The pictures are very much to my taste, but pray do not suppose that I asked for them -- on the contrary your "Bar" 441 kindly offered them and I was nervous -- as I still am -- lest they should be quite spoiled in my dusty room. I shall not tack them to the wall, but prop them up in sundry places and put them to bed in a sheet of paper every night.
Many thanks to the artist who lends the pictures and to the dear heart and hands which were the agents in bringing them to me. Please to transmit thanks No. 1 and accept thanks No. 2.
Ever your affectionate
Marian.
