Mr. Lewes will be delighted if Sara will value Baden Powell at all as a possession. It is an ungraceful thing to ask people to accept what is obviously of no use to oneself, and we can only ask you to excuse us for it on the ground that it was not worth while for you to pack the book up and send it by railway.
Thanks for your kind wish -- but though I love my friends quite as much as I profess to do -- which is saying a great deal, as human nature goes -- I love home better.
