MS: Yale. Addressed: Mr. Bray. Endorsed: 1856. Hitherto unpublished.
Dear Friend
I am so glad to see you can make use of anything I have done. And thank you for letting me know it.
I don't know quite the bearing of your remark on Mr. Lewes's citation of "Love your enemies" etc. but certainly to call that an axiom was a slip of the pen. Your hint about the Olympiads 754 is well worth attending to. He is doing a great deal to the Hist[ory] of Philosophy, and it will be some months before the New Edition is out. He is at this moment gone into town and could not wait to hear your letter -- which he will digest with his dinner when he comes back.
Ever yours
Marian.
