Dear Mr. Appleton
I saw Lord Arthur Russell yesterday, and thinking it possible that you might not yet have made a satisfactory and permanent arrangement with a Parisian correspondent I mentioned to him the search that you had been making. He is quite disposed to help you, if he can, and he has allowed me to say to you, that if you still need a 'abpolitical'bb correspondent resident in Paris and not only acquainted with affairs but able to write well about them, he will be glad to receive a note from you to that effect, and will take it as a signal for immediately inquiring of the person most likely to know of any available talent such as you want. You are probably aware that Madame Perronet, 1 Lord Arthur's mother-in-law, is one of the very best writers on political and social matters, but it appears that she is not sure of remaining in Paris and that she is no longer inclined to write. However, if you are still seeking, he is ready to do what he can in helping you.
