Rev. and dear Sir,
I am very reluctant to trespass on your time, engrossed as I know it to be by very important duties, but I am so far from easy as to the fate of a parcel which I sent to you by Railway more than two months ago (on the 4th August) that I must entreat you to inform me whether it reached you. It contained two volumes of yours, and a note, and I have a twofold anxiety first for the books and next for my own character as I must have appeared unaccountably negligent if you have not yet received your kindly lent property. The most hurried note will satisfy me.
I hope you and Mrs Watts are in health, and also your little daughter.
I think of you with much grateful pleasure and am Rev. and dear Sir,
