My dear Mr. Harrison
After I had written the enclosed letter, Mr. Lewes suggested to me that it would be a much smaller tax on your time and patience to give me an interview than to ask you to read a volume of MS. And I believe I could ascertain what I most need to be assured of, in half an hour's conversation with you.
I send you my other note, that you may see what was my first impulse, but I am now so strongly impressed with what Mr. Lewes says, that I revise my petition and beg you to do me the kindness of coming here. Is there one evening this week or next when you have no other engagement than that of dining alone at your Club? And if so, will you bestow your presence on us to dinner at 6 or at 'bd past 6 -- whichever will best suit you. If you cannot spare an evening soon, will you choose another part of the day?
