My dear Sir
I ought to have told you yesterday that I forwarded your excellent letter to Dr. J. Brown by Monday's post. I hope he will not shrink from the labour necessary to prepare his article for the October number.
You and Mrs. Combe are, I dare say, enjoying nature and quiet as much as I am. London, with its dingy restless life, seems fabulous to me, here among the wild flowers, listening to the plash of the waves.
Mr. Bray tells me he hopes to meet you in London on the 2d of August. 127 I should have liked very much to see both you and him, but I am bent, for my health's sake, on remaining out of London as long as the business of the Review will let me.
With kindest remembrances to Mrs. Combe, I am, my dear Sir,
Yours very truly
Marian Evans.
