My dear Sir
I have mentioned to Mr. Chapman your proposition and inquiry concerning the printing of your article and he will write to you on the subject.
I called on Lady Clark the other day but did not find her at home; when I see her I will remember your suggestions.
I believe that I may be justly acquitted of having communicated any opinion of yours concerning Dr. Hodgson's article. 189 I never shew your letters to Mr. Chapman, but merely read to him, or cut off, such portions as refer to his business.
David Masson is not the editor of the Leader, he is only the author of the article in the British Quarterly. Mr. Lewes is still editor of the literary department of the Leader.
Thank you for your information about Mr. Noble. His new book is committed to Mr. Huxley, 190 a scientific man who is becoming celebrated in London, and who is to write the scientific department of the Contemporary Literature in the Westminster. It is not probable that I shall have anything to do with the editorship of the Westminster after April, if until then.
Pray excuse me if I am incoherent or brusque this morning, for I am not well and am writing on my knee. Ever, my dear Sir
