My dear Sir
I send you by today's post an entire proof of your pamphlet. I have two more proofs, one of which I will take to Sir J. Clark, and the other to Mr. Perry. When you retum yours corrected, I will order half a dozen revises to be struck off and one of these can be sent to Dr. Browne 199 of Dumfries.
As I saw the first proof in slip, the printer has filled up the right hand headings with the general title. 200 If you wish this to be replaced by a special heading, please to say so. I shall be much obliged also if, in reading the pamphlet, you will keep in view the idea that the 96 pages have to be abridged to 32, and put a pencil mark where you feel that there is something not essential to the Review edition. I have admonished the printer of the disparity between the type of the italics and the general type in the three last sheets, but he has taken no notice of it.
Thank you for the perusal of the letter to the Manchester Examiner. I have forwarded it to Mr. Bray.
A pleasure I had the other day -- that of dining with Mrs. Jameson at Mr. R. Noel's -- is indirectly due to you. 201 I was much pleased with her.
Headache and palpitation of the heart have robbed me of half my time lately, so that I am sadly in arrear.
