February 24. 69.
Dear Mr. Crompton
My wisdom, i.e. my husband, decides that I must not go to the lecture on Friday evening. A lady 37 is coming to lunch with us and to occupy me for some hours afterwards, and as we mean, if possible, to start on our journey on Monday, Mr. Lewes insists that I must run no risk of getting upset by bad air.
I am sure you believe how much I feel your kindness in being willing to take me. Remember us till we come back and believe me
Always yours sincerely
M. E. Lewes.
