My dear Sir
I would on no account publish a 6/. edition of the books until the 12/. edition of the Mill has had a fair chance of disappearing from the shelves. And pray print the smallest practicable number of Adam at 12/., for I have a great dread of having my books printed to lie in warehouses. I suppose the types of the 6/. edition whenever it is printed will serve for all cheaper editions, by altering the paper and narrowing the edges. But let us wait.
We are having beautiful weather here, but the coast is unsatisfactory, for in spite of the equinoctial winds there is not even a large root of sea-weed brought from deep water, and Mr. Lewes has no better grist for his microscope and dissecting knife than a star-fish or two. 721 So I think we shall be at home again before the end of next week, and if you have occasion to write to us again it will be safest to address to Blandford Square.
We are meditating (do you know it?) another visit to Florence with grave purposes, and I suppose we shall set out by the end of April, if not before. But Mr. Lewes has something on hand for Maga, I believe, which he will have ready before we flit. 722
Mr. Langford had not sent me word about the sheets, so you may imagine that your letter was welcome
