My dear Sir
I set out on my journey to Munich on Monday, the 5th, and before I go I shall send you a small packet of M.S. forming the fourth part of "Adam Bede," if he is destined to appear in parts, which your last pleasant letter has made me regard as probable. In that case, I leave entirely to you the decision when he shall make his d'e9but. I feel ready to begin now at any time.
Since I saw you, I have had some agreeable demonstration of a gradually spreading warm interest in the Clerical Scenes, so I begin to share your hope that the remaining copies will be absorbed.
I shall be much obliged to you if you will let me have the additional cheque, for £60, 1103 before my departure. Always, my dear Sir,
