My dear Sir
I have to thank you for the sum of £24. 949 transmitted to me by our friend Lewes, and accompanied by the agreeable news, that you are better pleased with the third part of "Janet" than with its predecessors.
The story, I expect, will be completed in two more numbers.
Ever yours truly
George Eliot.
