My dear Sir
I hope you will be able to be with us at luncheon on Wednesday. Our time, you know, is half past one.
It will be a great comfort to see you, and exchange our "winged words" in a less blind and ambiguous fashion than by letter.
I congratulate [you] on having seen that fine old place, Arbury. You must have passed by my brother's house, too -- my old, old home.
Ever yours truly
George Eliot.
