MS: Mrs. Dorothy Hicks. Hitherto unpublished.
The Priory, | 21. North Bank, | Regents Park.
May 7. 1874.
Dear Mr. Langford
I think the [Birket Foster] charming -- not quite the Middle Mercian physiognomy in its grand distance, but perhaps not more than a fair average of characteristic English beauty.
I have another request to make, namely, that you will oblige me by sending a copy (green, if possible) of the last edition of the [Sayings] to Miss Hennell, 3 Barrs Hill Terrace, Coventry.
I suppose the new [Middlemarch] is not yet out.
With thanks for your kind attention
Yours sincerely
M. E. Lewes.
