Foleshill Saturday Morning.
My dear Maria,
Come when it suits you best, and stay as long as your inclination and arrangements allow. I have no particular engagements in view but should any such occur I will apprize you. Please to send me word a day or so before you come that I may be at home to welcome you, as
I shall do with great pleasure. Thank you very much for your kind enquiries about my health. I have been but poorly since I saw you, but I am decidedly better, and I am taking some medicine that seems beneficial.
My Father returned from his journey to Hallam last evening, 396 and we have just breakfasted together for the first time since last Saturday, so that I have had a lonely week in which your company would have been very valuable, but it rather prevents one from being very urgent in giving invitations when one's own society is the only divertissement one has to offer. You however have kindly put up with me and my circumstances many times before this and will good naturedly do so again.
Goodbye and may Heaven bless you as it does by the sure laws of consequence 397 bless every one who does his work faithfully and lives in loving activity.
