MS: Mr. Gerald Bullett. Hitherto unpublished.
The Priory, | North Bank, | Regents Park.
April 15. 6<3>4.
My dear Miss Marshall
I feel your kindness in bearing me on your mind at such a moment. 255 It is quite true that this great event in your life has more than a common interest for me. From my earliest knowledge of Cara I began, through her venerating words, to know something of your Mother, and not very long after that I came to know you and have since been able in some degree to understand the high and difficult duties of your life.
I care very much about being numbered among the friends to whom everything that affects your lot will be a subject of heartfelt sympathy.
Mr. Lewes begs to send his kindest remembrances and I am always
Yours affectionately
M. E. Lewes.
