April 26. 80.
My dear Barbara
Your cook-housekeeper's place would be a welcome one to many. If one could only bring the right person and the right place together! I have mentioned the possibility to my servants.
The news that you are going on well in health was most welcome. But I do not cease to be vexed that I did not see more of you when you were in London.
You must not tell Miss Marks to call upon me, for I shall probably not be in town. I have changed my plans and am going abroad for a little while. But I shall write to you again before long and tell you more. For the present adieu and bless you.
Yours ever
Marian.
