Dear Cara
After receiving your letter on Tuesday morning, I went to Mrs. Follen 221 to learn Miss Montgomery's address, not knowing even whether she had returned from the Continent.
I found that she had taken lodgings at 13, Upper Seymour Street, in order to be near Lady Byron who is nursing Lady Lovelace 222 in this sad ending of her career -- cancer. Miss M.'s time is almost entirely occupied with these friends and Mrs. Follen was doubtful whether I should be able to see her. However I trudged to 13, Seymour Street, having first written a note to leave in case I did not see Miss M. She was not at home and I left the note which told your news of Mr. Noel and asked her to send an account of her health etc. that I might transmit it to you. Last night came the note which I enclose. 223 She says nothing about herself, but I gathered from Mrs. Follen that she is as well as her general delicacy of health will allow her to be -- with no particular ailment or doctoring going forward.
Poor Mr. Chapman is under the cloud again, not seeing his way -- but Mr. Bray will be here soon and will hear all.
