Dearest Cara
Sundry matters have decided that I should stay here until Saturday week 942 -- resign yourself then to kissing and being kissed. You seem dearer to me every time I go back to you.
On Monday went to tea at Mr. Mackay's and called on Rufa by her invitation on our way home. Yesterday Mr. C. took me to Tottenham to see Mr. Windus's Turners. 943 On Friday we had a new man -- a Mr. Louis, 944 born a Jew -- believing in Christianity -- that is to say as a set of symbols expressing his philosophic creed. Very accomplished, played on the piano to Mrs. Chapman's utter disgust -- she hating Mendelssohnianism. Thornton Hunt 945 came again and to my vexation went away without my being introduced to him -- for which I reviled Mr. Chapman whereto he answers by revilings.
I hope you are all getting blooming again. I thought Rufa looking very pale -- and invalidish. She told us Mr. Bray had pronounced Frank the most spoiled of all children he had seen.
