Dear Cara
I write in a hurry, that I may lose no time in telling you what Mr. Lewes says about Sara's business versus Manwaring. 17 He says that there is no danger of her stock being sold -- his bankruptcy meaning, for her, simply that if he happens to owe her anything she will only get a dividend on it. But, that she ought to take measures for removing her stock from under his hands. Poor Mr. Spencer will lose £50 by the affair, 18 after having had much vexation. He found Manwaring so unsatisfactory long ago that he was making arrangements to get clear of him before he was aware of bankruptcy being in the wind. There is clearly no happy conjunction of planets on behalf of that business in King William Street.
Tell Sara, with best love, that we can comprehend her head-troubles only too well. However, I am glad the sprain is better so that there is hope of her getting more and more fresh air.
