Dear Cara
Alas, I am too feeble a creature to venture on engagements three days beforehand. I am compelled only to wish and be glad, if any friend will come to see me. There are still things to be done that oblige me to take care of myself not simply on selfish grounds.
You will I hope be coming to London, and I think you know that there is no one in the world whom I would more gladly have with me than you for as long as you could spare yourself to me. I wish I had a comfortable bedroom to offer you.
