My dear Cara
I am delighted to have the good news about the books. Especially I enjoy thinking that the little darkies in Hindustan will be the better for the work of your dear fair head.
Yes, I should like to have a proof (if it can be had in pages, for slips are too irritating) of Paul Bradly, just for the chance of getting anything done with it in Mrs. Schwabe's direction. She is not forthcoming just now, and may be in Italy for what I know, but she has a house in Clarges St. Piccadilly to which she comes from time to time, and I dare say she will show herself by and by. She is a dear benevolent widow, up to her chin in wealth, I suppose, and wanting to do good with it.
The plan of getting illustrations is a very happy one. I think, in the case of a book about animals, they will really help the moral effect by giving the children more vivid images of the creatures written about.
As to the printing, that is to be paid for irrespective of proceeds or profits, and is my contribution to your Society for the protection of animals.
