My Dear Cara
Excuse me -- but I cannot bear to write to my friends on post cards, unless it be a mere [Yes] or [No] or a date. But I am very grateful for the affectionate anxiety that sent the card, and glad to have some news of you in addition.
I am much better -- get up soon after my breakfast, and am able both to walk and drive without much fatigue. For the last week I have had no pain to speak gravely about and my appetite is good. Sir James Paget writes me this morning 306 that he and Dr. Clark want me to go up to town that they may get another special medicus to consult with them as to possible causes of my illness. But since I have been daily getting stronger and easier since Dr. C. saw me, I am going to write and ask that my power of recovery without all that trouble may be tested a little longer.
My work is not done, you know, as to seeing the final volume through the press, but the printing is going on steadily. This volume will be more than twice the size of [The Study of Psychology.] But you see, as times go in this rainy world, I must not consider myself heavily afflicted.
I am so glad to know that the Sydenham House will not trouble you through the winter.
Love to all from
Your affectionate
Marian.
