Dear Figliuolina
Welcome to our neighborhood again! But I cannot ask you to come to me before Sunday, 16 for of late -- the last six weeks -- I have been pitiably out of health, and am under a doctor's care, which is a very rare form of desperation with me. I light up every Sunday to see my friends, but go out smokily, like a lamp out of order, on the Monday.
Come in good time on Sunday before the monde.
Yours always affectionately
M. E. Lewes.
